A High Acceptance Through Effective Project Environment Management (P.E.M) – The Model of Success of the AVE Wels Environment Commission, Austria
© TK Verlag - Fachverlag für Kreislaufwirtschaft (3/2010)
Project Environment Management (P.E.M) supplements the economic, technical and legal project planning with strategic environmental planning. DeconRCM: A decision support system tool for renovation and demolition waste management
© Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (6/2009)
The absence of a certified network for the collection and processing of the materials contained in generated Renovation and Demolition (R&D) waste is a main shortcoming of R&D waste management in Greece. Until recently, less than 5% of all R&D waste generated in Greece was reused or recycled, while the rest was landfilled or disposed in uncontrolled, open dumps. In order to increase the community’s awareness in environmental issues a research team has been formed and qualified for the funding of the project “Information System for Demolition Waste Management” (DEWAM project).

Increasing CO2 reductions related to source separation of Municipal Biowaste in the Netherlands
© European Compost Network ECN e.V. (10/2008)
We conclude that source separation of municipal biowaste, composting and digestion contribute to sustainable food production and to CO2 reduction. Because the important contribution of compost, efforts to increase CO2 reduction should not harm compost production. In The Netherlands, the biggest gain on CO2 was achieved when the government implemented the legal obligation for municipalities for source separation and composting municipal biowaste.

RECYCLING CODE – PACKAGING WASTE COLLECTION INCENTIVE PROGRAMME
© IWWG International Waste Working Group (10/2007)
Valorsul, S.A. is the company responsible for the treatment of the approximately 750 thousand tons of Municipal Solid Waste produced, per year, in great Lisbon. This paper will present a case study of the communication strategy developed in order to achieve the European Union directives on the management of packaging waste - 2004/12/CE (2011 objectives) since the former directive (94/62/CE) objectives were achieved for glass, paper/cardboard and metal flows but not for plastic. 2011 goals are more demanding and despite the 20% grouth of selective collection in Valorsul’s area during the two last years this is not sufficient (see Tables 1 and 2).
