Energy-efficient drives for HUBER machines

HUBER has taken on its share of responsibility for the new EU legislation: The complete product portfolio has been reviewed with regard to the new legislation so that every plant operator can be sure to have the energy-efficient motor for his machine.

21.03.2011 - The EU Directive 2005/32/EC (Ecodesign Requirements for Energy-using Products) defines the preconditions for savings. In a meeting of the ecodesign regulatory committee on 11 March 2009 the EU member states supported the new regulations to improve the energy efficiency of industrial motors.

A briefing on the same date quotes the words of energy commissioner Andris Piebalgs: "This measure contributes substantially to the realisation of the goals set by the EU with regard to energy efficiency and climate protection. It will quickly lead to significant energy savings and considerable benefits for society and industry, as provided for in the European Economic Recovery Plan.”

On 1 August 2009, the European EN 60034-30 standard was adopted and is applicable also outside Europe. The ordinance sets out three stages of introduction, starting with the first stage in 2011 and increasing the efficiency requirements gradually with the second stage in 2015 and third stage in 2017.

The new efficiency classes are IE1, IE2 and IE3. IE1 – Standard Efficiency (~EFF2)
IE2 – High Efficiency (improved, ~EFF1)
IE3 – Premium Efficiency (10 - 15% higher efficiency factor than IE2)
HUBER has taken on its share of responsibility for the new EU legislation

We have reviewed our complete product portfolio with regard to the new legislation so that every plant operator can be sure to have the energy-efficient motor for his machine (whether class IE1 with operating mode S2, S3 or class IE2 with operating mode S1).
